The oxford dictionaries definition for balance is "An even distribution of weight enabling someone or something to remain upright and steady".
Before I had kids, I thought balance was something that people tried to achieve between 'work' and 'life'.
Before I went on maternity leave (for the first time) my client and I were talking about my career. I told him I was worried about my career and how it would chance once I became a mum. He gave me a piece of advice. He told me you don't need a "work-life" balance, you just need a "life" balance. I didn't understand what he meant at first. That was until I held Samuel in my arms and I was reminded of this the first time I cuddled Sebastian. Life balance. Finding balance in life isn't just about work-life but balancing everything you hold dear in your life. In my case that is my family, my friends, my career and my self.
So I am searching for balance. Life balance. I need to learn to balance being a mum, a wife, a daughter, a sister, a friend, a colleague, a good person, a healthy person, a balance of everything that I care about.
An even distribution of things so that my life can "remain upright and steady".
